Responsibilities
- Safely operate CDL - A dump trucks following FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload freight, ensuring proper handling of logistics cargo and hazardous materials when necessary, in compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes.
- Transport freight securely over long distances or within local areas, including automobile transportation when required.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking manual transmission systems and truck loading/unloading equipment.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate deliveries, report issues, or adjust routes as needed.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL - A license with clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers preferred.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, delivery driving, or freight transportation roles.
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and perform manual handling tasks related to load & unload operations.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and execution on route driving assignments.
- Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling practices.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety compliance during over-the-road (OTR) routes or local deliveries.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions for hazardous materials transportation when applicable.
