Job Description
FT, Evening Shift, 40 hours/week
We are a Joint Commission Certified Center for Acute MI, Stroke, AAA, Bariatric Surgery and Spine Surgery.
Under the direction of the Director, the Patient Care Manager (PCM) is responsible on a 24-hour basis for the planning and comprehensive operations of a specific clinical unit or group of units ensuring compliance with hospital and nursing mission, goals, philosophy, policies and procedures. The Patient Care Manager utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of patient care and ensures quality care is provided through appropriate allocation of human resources, maintaining financial control of the unit, and serving as a liaison between administration and staff. The individual demonstrates personal and professional responsibility; participates in creating an atmosphere of mutual trust, acceptance, recognition, and respect; and assumes responsibility for own professional development. This position serves as liaison to physicians, administration, and hospital staff. The unit manager demonstrates personal and professional responsibility, participates in a caring atmosphere of mutual trust, acceptance, and recognition, and assumes responsibility for own professional development.
Work Hours: Full-time, 7pm-7am

Requirements
Experience: 3 years of clinical experience including 1 year of nursing management / leadership experience, preferred.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama. BCLS required. ACLS preferred.
Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Medical equipment used in the delivery of patient care plus telephone, computer, fax, copier, personal computer and other office equipment.
Specialized Skills: Basic computer skills, good communication, time management, and critical thinking skills. Understands the nursing process and how to build and support a team. Has a working knowledge of budget issues and fiscal management. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Able to analyze situations, recognize problems, search out pertinent facts and reach sound conclusions. Time management and critical thinking skills. Ability to form effective working relationships with employees, management, physicians and patients.
Physical Requirements: Visual and hearing acuity. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to lift, push and pull and to assist in moving patients/equipment involving a minimum of 50 lbs. Ability to meet physical demands of the job and attendance requirements of the job.
