What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Specialist ED - FT; 7:00 P.M.- 7:00 A.M. (7 ON/ 7 OFF) position at Jackson Hospital and Clinic?
Obtains demographic, billing information; Contacts third party payers to obtain pre-certification when required. Escorts/transports patients to the assigned nursing unit; strive toward customer satisfaction and meeting the needs of our patients; informs patient of hospital payment requirements. Receives and records notification of patients being admitted from physician’s offices, emergency room and the recovery room; Provides coverage for other departmental duties as assigned which includes Bed Control, Discharge and any other duties specified by the supervisors.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous business office experience preferred in a healthcare environment. Ability to interact with the public, i.e. children, adolescents, adults and geriatric. Ability to interpret and possess basic medical and anatomy terminology skills.
