Summary
The Network Specialist 1 is responsible for the day-to-day documentation, analysis, testing, installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of the Jackson Health System enterprise computing environment. This role represents a source of accountability for the continual service improvement program. The focal point for reporting incidents and making service requests with an obligation to keep end users informed of service events, actions and opportunities. Provides technical expertise related to Windows computing environment, application software deployment, and policy-based security management.
Responsibilities
- Provides analysis, diagnosis, installation, setup, configuration, testing, maintenance, monitoring, and resolution of complex computing environment including hands on operations of hardware, software and applications for Jackson Health System including all remote sites.
- Logs and tracks requests for assistance related to JHS supported systems; gathers and logs appropriate demographic data related to each request.
- Receives and processes all IT requests from all Jackson Health System end-user departments.
- Provides documentation, inventory and asset management, audits, issue tracking within the work order management system, change management, security and back-ups as outlined by management.
- Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made and actions taken until final resolution.
- Creates root cause analysis and assists in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.
- Collaborates with LAN and Network Engineers to ensure efficient operation, stability, and security of the JHS computing environment.
- Communicates application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, development and engineering teams, and end users.
- Maintains, customizes and enhances any software used by Customer Services to provide service.
- Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of services provided.
- Provides guidance and/or instruction to end-users.
- Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally, requires 1 to 3 years of related experience.
Education
High school diploma is required.
Skill
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
