Position Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist - Specialty provides advanced respiratory care in assigned specialty areas under the direction of an Attending Physician or CMO. This role includes administering routine and complex respiratory therapy procedures, managing ventilators for adults, pediatrics, and neonates, and supporting high-acuity specialty services.
Therapists are expected to work independently, demonstrate strong clinical judgment, and may assume charge or lead responsibilities as needed.

Position Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist - Specialty provides advanced respiratory care in assigned specialty areas under the direction of an Attending Physician or CMO. This role includes administering routine and complex respiratory therapy procedures, managing ventilators for adults, pediatrics, and neonates, and supporting high-acuity specialty services.
Therapists are expected to work independently, demonstrate strong clinical judgment, and may assume charge or lead responsibilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, assess, and monitor patients on ventilators or oxygenation support.
- Administer aerosolized medications and bronchial hygiene therapies.
- Obtain and analyze blood gases (arterial, venous, capillary) as ordered.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Document assessments, treatments, and equipment settings accurately.
- Assist with training and orientation of new respiratory staff.
- Perform hemodynamic and pulmonary monitoring where authorized.
- Operate EKG equipment and prepare tracings for physician interpretation (as applicable).
- Ensure equipment safety and proper maintenance.
- Support pediatric and neonatal ground/air transports (Holtz Pediatric assignments).

- Associate's degree required (verified at hire).
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred, especially for those performing Point of Care testing in specialized units.
- 3 to 5 years of related respiratory therapy experience required.
- Valid Florida State Respiratory License.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NBRC.
- BLS required; additional life support certifications based on unit needs.
- NRP and PALS required for NICU/Pediatric ER roles.
- ACLS may be required depending on department.
- STABLE preferred for NICU assignments.
