Responsibilities
- Operates advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment with precision and expertise
- Performs specialized diagnostic imaging procedures using computer-based visualization of internal organs and structures
- Conducts dynamic and routine scans of the head, chest, spine, abdomen, and extremities using proper imaging techniques
- Ensures patient and staff safety by following all prescribed protection standards
- Assists physicians during imaging procedures as needed
- Follows established protocols for MRI computer system start-up and shutdown
- Reviews patient charts for lab results and allergy history when contrast is required
- Confirms patient identity before transport, before injections, during technologist handoff, and prior to scanning; applies the same standards for outpatients
- Uses appropriate immobilization devices while adhering to age-specific safety requirements
- Administers contrast material when authorized by a radiologist and in accordance with departmental protocol
- Practices universal precautions and uses protective measures when handling contrast agents
- Assists physicians with contrast administration
- Monitors Dry View film processing
- Communicates clearly with patients and provides reassurance throughout procedures
- Performs basic patient care, addressing physical and psychological needs according to age-specific requirements
- Initiates life-support measures when necessary and maintains current CPR certification
- Provides holiday coverage and participates in on-call rotation
- Demonstrates proficiency with the HIS computer system, ensuring accurate documentation of completed and incomplete procedures
- Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions to a supervisor and documents issues in the downtime logbook
- Completes laboratory records and reports accurately
- Transfers relevant information from the medical record to the radiology request form
- Complies with all departmental, hospital, and safety protocols
- Participates in on-the-job training and departmental in-service programs to learn new equipment and advanced techniques
- Reviews CQI Quarterly Reports during monthly meetings and contributes to quality improvement initiatives

- Performs additional related duties as assigned

Education
Graduation from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology with additional training in MR is required.
Credentials
- Valid Florida State license as a Radiology Technologist is preferred.
- Employees hired BEFORE 2/1/2017 MUST obtain the required ARRT Certification by 12/31/2017. Employees who have completed training at JHS may be granted a grace period of 6 months upon hire to obtain the required certification. Any new hires with external training must have the required certification at the time of hire.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification with at least 6 months validity required.
