The Used Truck Sales Manager will play a pivotal part in selling used trucks while maintaining appropriate levels of gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction. This role manages a team of Used Truck Sales Reps, ensuring that they are well trained and have what they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase pre-owned trucks through auctions, fleets, and trade-in appraisals
- Manage the valuation, pricing, and selling of used truck packages
- Partner with the service department to minimize repair costs and turnaround time
- Formulate annual and monthly business plans, sales objectives, and expense budgets with executive leadership
- Recruit, onboard, and train new sales representatives
- Ensure staff maintains active licensing and CDL credentials
- Manage dealership lead systems, prospect tracking tools, and client follow-up protocols
- Resolve high-level customer service escalations and maintain positive public relations
- Submit expense reports
- Complete employee performance reviews on time
- Travel as required to attend auctions, meet clients, and inspect vehicles
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of commercial truck sales experience
- Background in inventory buying or team leadership preferred
- Established network of industry contacts, including dealers, auctioneers, and fleet managers
- Vast knowledge of Class 8 semi-tractor specifications, market valuations, and commercial applications
- Ability to manage budgets and analyze store performance metrics
- Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal communication skills
- Valid driver's license (CDL highly preferred)
