What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cashier position at Jackson Energy Authority?
Position Summary::
Greets customers to accept direct payment for utility services, processes mail payments and insures proper credit. Must be able to work flexible hours at various JEA locations –North Customer Center and Downtown Office. Hours range from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Education/Experience::
High school diploma (or GED). Demonstrated ability to make accurately and quickly and operate input keyboard and a 10 key calculator.
Skills/Abilities::
Good communication skills are required.
Certifications/Licenses::
None.
Physical Demands::
The ability to use a computer keyboard effectively. The ability to communicate orally by telephone and person-to-person. The ability to operate a standard equipped company vehicle safely. The ability to read printed material.
Work Environment::
Indoor office conditions. Assigned work location and work hours are determined by the supervisor and may be adjusted as needed.
Telephone::
Must maintain an operating telephone and furnish the number to his/her supervisor.

- Accepts payment for customer utility bills.
- Posts credit to customer accounts.
- Balances cash drawer and meets accuracy guidelines.
- Prepares daily reports.
- Processes mail payments.
