Electrical Superintendent Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Project Oversight: Supervise electrical installations in commercial, industrial, and residential projects.

• Team Management: Direct and coordinate electricians and subcontractors, ensuring productivity and safety.

• Planning & Scheduling: Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor progress against deadlines.

• Quality Control: Ensure all electrical work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.

• Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve technical or administrative issues on-site.

• Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, and other construction teams to integrate electrical systems.

• Documentation: Maintain records of inspections, progress reports, and compliance certifications.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and safety standards

• Leadership and team management skills

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure

Typical Qualifications

• Education: Associate or bachelors degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or related field (preferred)

• Experience: Several years in electrical construction, with supervisory or foreman-level experience

• Certifications: OSHA safety training, journeyman/master electrician license (depending on state requirements)

Work Environment

• Primarily construction sites, sometimes office-based for planning and reporting

• Requires long hours, site visits, and coordination with multiple stakeholders

• Safety gear and adherence to strict protocols are essential
