The Jackson County Attorney's Office is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Investigator to support our office in the investigation and preparation of criminal and civil cases. This position would be ideal for an experienced law enforcement professional looking for meaningful public service work with work-life balance.
The Investigator will:
- Conduct criminal and civil investigations.
- Assist with trial preparation, including witness interviews, evidence review, subpoena service, and courtroom assistance.
- Attend court proceedings and provide investigative support.
- Coordinate and assist with law enforcement agencies in major case investigations.
- Collect forensic evidence, including digital evidence, and assist in digital evidence authentication and evaluation.
The Jackson County Attorney's Office is committed to working with the successful applicant to establish a schedule that meets both the operational needs of the office and the candidate's desired level of commitment. Accordingly, this position may be structured as either a permanent part-time position or a flexible-hours arrangement.
Minimum Qualifications include:
· Previous law enforcement investigative experience required.
· Strong communication, interviewing, and report writing skills.
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional independence.
· Technical ability to preserve, collect and interpret digital data and forensic evidence.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, victims, witnesses, court staff and county departments.
Preference will be given to:
· Certified Peace officers with current ILEA qualifications.
· Drone pilot qualified.
· Formal training in digital phone data extraction.
· Instructor credentials preferred.
· Substantial experience with felony investigations as lead investigator.
Compensation and benefits will be established based on the employment arrangement, qualifications and experience.
