Jackson County Animal Services has an exciting and dynamic opportunity for an experienced enforcement professional to lead and support the Jackson County Animal Control team as an Enforcement Supervisor. The Animal Control team is responsible for both protecting the safety of the public and promoting animal welfare through enforcement of animal-related portions of the Jackson County code. The Enforcement Supervisor works in the field as an Animal Control Officer in addition to handling supervisor duties. As such this position requires both excellent animal handling skills and the ability to calmly and confidently work with citizens who may be experiencing strong emotional states. The Enforcement Supervisor works closely with the Animal Shelter Supervisor and Animal Services Program Manager in a collaborative, “one-team” work culture. The Enforcement Supervisor also facilitates communication with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Public Health Department, as well as with outside law enforcement agencies, and other animal control agencies/animal welfare organizations.
Work schedule will be five (5) 8-hour shifts or four (4) 10-hour shifts and will include Saturdays. Other weekend, evening, holiday or emergency response hours may be required.

- Experience as an Animal Control Officer, Code or Law Enforcement officer in another field is preferred.
- Must have at least a year of full-time experience handling large breed dogs.
- Experience working within the judicial system preparing enforcement cases for hearings and presenting cases to judges in court is preferred.
- Experience working in a community engagement-oriented agency focused on solution-based enforcement.
- Knowledge of best practices in an animal shelter, including common diseases and disease prevention methods.
- Experience with Chameleon software is preferred.

- Assigns, supervises, coordinates, schedules and evaluates the work of assigned staff; plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; advises, assists, and trains subordinates as necessary; conducts performance evaluations and makes recommendations regarding the transfer, promotion, or termination of subordinate staff; may recommend and implement approved disciplinary actions as warranted; may perform personnel administration functions.
- Assists in the development and preparation of the budget for assigned activities; monitors budget, expenditures, billings, and the receipt and transmittal of department funds. May oversee and perform purchasing, accounting, and inventory control functions. Performs the most complex tasks requiring detailed analysis and expertise in the area of assignment.
- Supervises the preparation of, or prepares, correspondence, files, reports, and other written documentation; may review and process documents. Establishes, maintains, and updates detailed records, files, lists, and logs.

Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in business, office administration, or in relevant field of assignment AND one year experience in the area of assignment AND an additional year of administration, program coordination, or budgeting experience AND one year of experience supervising or leading employees in an official capacity; OR
- Any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job.
Licenses, Certificates and Other
- Valid Oregon State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record required for some positions; some positions require an Oregon Class "B" Commercial Driver's License.
