Student Support Specalist
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Exempt Position; 10 months; Full time; 2022-2023 school year only (additional years of employment possible)
SALARY: Salary based upon the NC Salary Schedule, license and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related areas such as social work, psychology, or counseling. NC Educator License preferred, successful experience working with at-risk children required.
DUTIES: Responsible for implementing core instructional programs focused on social emotional development, behavioral expectations, bullying prevention, and school safety. Develop intervention plans and assist with implementation consistent with student needs, strengths, social and emotional factors; use a variety of appropriate formal and informal tools and
techniques including functional behavior assessments, observations, and interviews to evaluate the needs and track progress and performance of students; provide goal setting opportunities in response to identified needs such as academics, attendance, diversity, mental health, behavior management, crisis intervention, homelessness, child abuse, and neglect, peer or family issues, or other relevant topics; participate in the student problem solving teams; adhere to ethical, professional, and legal standards; maintain confidentiality of student records and information; other duties assigned by Superintendent or designee.
