The Transit Driver provides safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services for passengers within the rural transit system. Under the direction of the Transit Manager, this position operates transit vehicles, assists passengers, and ensures compliance with agency safety procedures and transportation regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid Ohio driver’s license; CDL with passenger endorsement when applicable
- Acceptable driving record and ability to maintain insurability under County policy
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, background check, and DOT physical
- Strong customer service, communication, and safe-driving skills
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate transit vehicles on assigned routes and schedules
- Assist passengers, including individuals using mobility devices
- Conduct vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Maintain required logs, mileage, and incident documentation
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, passengers, and staff
- Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and transportation regulations
- Attend required meetings and training
