High School Band Director

Jackson County High School is seeking a passionate and skilled High School Band Director to lead our highly successful and well-established band program. With a proud tradition of excellence, our band has a long history of outstanding performances, competitive achievements, and community recognition. The ideal candidate will build on this legacy by directing the marching band, concert ensembles, and other performance groups, while inspiring students to reach their highest potential.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in music education or related field
• Eligible to hold a GaPSC issued teaching certificate

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in music education or related field
• Hold a GaPSC issued teaching certificate in music education
• Experience working with high school students
• Experience leading various music ensembles

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in standard in-person classroom and outdoor settings (e.g., marching practice, parades, etc.)
• Duties will require both in-school and after-school commitments, including rehearsals, performances, football games, competitions, and occasional weekend events
• Some travel is required for competitions, festivals, and community performances
• Requires physical activity such as standing for extended periods, walking, and carrying instruments or equipment.
• Collaborate with other fine arts staff, administrators, athletic personnel, parents, and booster organizations
• Collaborate with feeder schools to maximize transitions into high school and build a coherent program
• Regular work hours are during the school day, with occasional evening or weekend commitments for parent-teacher conferences, school events, or professional development
• Must be adaptable to varying student needs and class sizes

Employment Terms:

• 190 day academic work calendar
• Annual Salary based on degree level and previous years of experience in a similar role
• Jackson County Schools Salary Schedules
• This position is eligible for an additional stipend for duties that extend beyond regular school hours and the academic calendar
