4th Grade Math and Science Teacher is key to the success of Jackson Charter School. This position will report directly to the Principal as an exempt employee.


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The 4th Grade Math and Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality instruction that promotes student achievement and supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of all students. Through effective classroom management, assessment, collaboration, and family engagement, the Teacher creates a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that advances the mission and educational goals of Jackson Charter School.

Responsibilities Include:


  1. Pursue the vision and execute the mission of the school.
  2. Ensure the highest quality educational experience for all students.
  3. Provide a safe learning environment.
  4. Ensure the educational development of all students.
  5. Enforce all behavior management and reward system policies, coordinate with student support manager where required.
  6. Comply with all school policy and procedures.
  7. Develop lesson plans that ensure the attainment of state and school learning standards.
  8. Collaborate with instructional coaches, grade-level teams, intervention staff, and school leadership to ensure effective implementation of curriculum and instructional practices.
  9. Provide direct instruction.
  10. Utilize current technology to enhance student learning.
  11. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  12. Engage students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction.
  13. Utilize a wide range of instructional strategies and technologies to meet and enhance the needs of a diverse student population.
  14. Utilize equitable resources and equitable instructional practices to meet the needs of a diverse student population.

15. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.

16.   Administer and utilize formative, benchmark, and state assessment data to monitor student progress and inform instruction.

17.   Evaluate students’ progress.

18 Analyze student data from both formative and summative assessments to drive differentiated

instruction and data-based decision making for students.

19. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student

progress and student needs.

20.  Prepare all student reports as required. Update and maintain all necessary records accurately and

completely as required by law, district policies, and school regulations.

21.  Provide an inviting, exciting, and innovative learning environment.

22.  Engage in effective and appropriate classroom management.

23.  Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from leadership and instructional coaches.

24.  Establish and maintain positive relationships with families through regular communication regarding

student progress, academic achievement, and behavioral development.

25.  Demonstrates a variety of effective behavior management techniques appropriate to the needs of all

students, including those with disabilities.

26.  Maintain discipline in accordance with building expectations as well as the district’s student code of

conduct.

27. Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC), and other job training in order to enhance

ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

28.  Assist with school events.

29.  Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work

environment.


QUALIFICATIONS:


1.      Bachelor's degree required; valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate

endorsement(s) required.

2.      Positive, solution-focused individual with a growth mindset.

3.      Personal initiative and desire for responsibility.

4.      Demonstrated ability to engage the interest of school-age children.

5.      Demonstrated ability to work with diverse children, including those with special needs.

6.      Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with the ability to build positive

relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

7.      Demonstrated success in encouraging parental involvement.

8.      Proficiency in instructional technology and the ability to integrate technology into classroom

instruction.


WORKING CONDITIONS:


·        Work is primarily performed in a classroom and school environment with frequent interaction with

students, staff, and families.

·        Requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting of classroom materials

and supplies up to 50 pounds.

·        Exposure to noise levels typical of an elementary school environment.

·        Occasional outdoor supervision of students during arrival, dismissal, recess, field trips, and other

school activities.

·        May require participation in school events, meetings, professional development activities, and family

engagement events outside of regular school hours.

·        Must maintain a professional demeanor while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-

paced educational environment.

·        Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
