Direct Support Professional DSP

Job Summary

Jackie’s Place Group Home is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide daily care and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or behavioral health needs. DSPs play a critical role in helping residents maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life in a safe and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate is patient, caring, professional, and committed to making a positive impact in the lives of others.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene
• Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and medication reminders/administration (as permitted by policy)
• Maintain a safe, clean, and positive living environment
• Monitor and document residents’ behaviors, progress, and daily activities accurately and timely
• Transport residents to appointments, community activities, and outings as needed
• Encourage independence, social interaction, and participation in community engagement activities
• Follow individualized care plans and behavioral support plans
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and crisis situations
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, healthcare providers, and team members
• Ensure compliance with state regulations, agency policies, and confidentiality requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous experience in caregiving, healthcare, mental health, or group home settings preferred but not required
• Compassionate, dependable, and able to work with individuals with varying support needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and any required state clearances
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (training may be provided)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, assist, and transfer residents when necessary
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
• Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
