Shift: 8:00am-4:00pm (Weekends)
Position Goal
Responsible for administering physical therapy treatment as supervised by the staff physical therapist. Administers treatments and physical agents as directed by the staff PT, after the PT has evaluated the patient. Provides quality patient care according to practice standards of the American Physical Therapy Association appropriate to age and disability related to limitations in function. Documents and performs charge related functions.
Position Responsibilities
Education: AA degree from a school or college approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Special Qualifications: Current AL certificate as Physical Therapy Assistant. BLS required. Alabama license required.

Position Responsibilities
- Provides treatment as directed by the staff physical therapist.
- Observes and evaluates treatment effect, discusses observations with staff physical therapist.
- Performs components of an appropriate assessment on all patients as related to the therapy requested.
- Assists with formulation of a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and assesses effectiveness of learning. Includes family in teaching as appropriate, appraises staff physical therapist of conclusions.
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
- Coordinates and assists with directing patient care to ensure patient’s needs are met and facility policy is followed.
- Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
- Assists in ordering supplies, maintains adequate PAR levels to assure all supplies and equipment is readily available.
- Participates in infection control, departmental training equipment training and organizational CQI activities.
