LPN ER Full Time

Shift: 11:00AM - 11:00PM ET

Position Goal

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and performs delegated patient care functions. The work that is performed is done under the established policies and procedures of the institution and within the educational preparation and regulatory requirements for licensure. The LPN will be expected to assess and analyze a given situation and make decisions within the limits of licensed practiced.

Position Responsibilities

• Charting reflects that data is collected and recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
• Patient responses to interventions are documented and there is evidence of communication to RN.
• Implements and coordinates the plan of care with collaboration from RN.
• Physician orders are transcribed/or verified accurately and orders are implemented on time and are prioritized and unclear and unsafe orders are questioned.
• Makes rounds with physicians when possible and/or routinely checks with all physicians to determine assistance needed.
• As evidenced through observation, the LPN assists the RN in identifying and prioritizing potential problems before the problem becomes a crisis. Recognizes crisis events and intervenes in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates responsibility for own competency/mandatories and annual performance evaluation by maintaining all personal current personal data. Meets educational requirements for new equipment, materials, procedures and technology. Prepares for the performance evaluation conference by submitting completed skills list, education attendance documents, and self-evaluation form one month prior to due date.
• Assists with unit orientation, training, and continuing education of students and employees as appropriate. Trains and supports new people with enthusiasm and supports activities to make them feel welcomed and important
  
  

Experience: Previous nursing experience preferred.

Education: Basic education necessary for Nursing licensure required

Special Qualifications:

• Current Alabama or Multi-State License required or the ability to obtain.
• BLS required.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, excellent critical thinking and customer service.
