Jack Frost Landscapes & Garden Center is looking for dependable, hardworking people to join our landscaping and maintenance crews.
If you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and being part of a crew that takes pride in its work, this could be a great fit. Experience is welcome, but it isn't everything—we're also willing to train people who show up on time, work hard, follow directions, and want to learn.
This is a hands-on position working throughout the Virginia Beach area on residential and commercial properties. You'll work alongside experienced crew members performing everything from landscape installation to routine lawn maintenance.
What You'll Do
Depending on your assigned crew and the day's projects, responsibilities may include:
- Install plants, trees, sod, mulch, soil, stone, and other landscape materials
- Perform lawn maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, leaf cleanup, and debris removal
- Operate mowers, string trimmers, blowers, hand tools, and other landscape equipment
- Load, unload, move, and install landscape materials
- Keep job sites, trucks, equipment, and work areas clean and organized
- Perform daily inspections of assigned tools and equipment
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly
- Follow company safety procedures and wear required PPE
- Work with your crew to complete jobs safely, efficiently, and to our quality standards
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while working on customer properties
- Perform additional duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
You should be able to:
- Show up on time and ready to work
- Perform physically demanding work throughout the day
- Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and changing weather conditions
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift, and carry for extended periods
- Follow directions and ask questions when something isn't clear
- Work effectively as part of a crew
- Safely handle tools, equipment, and landscape materials
- Learn new skills and take pride in doing the job correctly
Experience
Previous landscaping experience is preferred but not required.
Experience in lawn care, landscaping, construction, agriculture, outdoor labor, or another physically demanding trade is a plus.
The following are preferred:
- Valid driver's license
- Current Virginia pesticide applicator or registered technician certification ("spray license")
- Previous experience applying fertilizers, herbicides, or other lawn and landscape treatments
A driver's license or pesticide certification is not required for every Laborer position.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Typical shift begins at 7:00 a.m.
- Typical end time is 3:30 p.m. or when the day's work is completed
- Occasional Saturdays may be required during peak season
- Overtime must be approved by management
Because landscaping is weather- and workload-dependent, daily schedules may vary.
