- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of prior experience working in a Terminal Operations area or similar installation.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years prior experience in a supervisory or in a foreman role
- Must have High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer knowledge
- Must have excellent verbal and written skills
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented work environment
- Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees
- Must have the ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions
- Must be able to work (flexible hours) extended hours including nights, overtime, weekends and holidays
- Responsible for assuring proper equipment handling and operator support for daily terminal and vessel operations.
- Perform all functions in accordance with operation and safety guidelines
- Responsible for supervising daily heavy lifts and receiving operations including the supervision of clerks as they prepare daily documents
- Reports all equipment control issues to the equipment control person designated for the steamship line.
- Assists and prepares equipment for efficient delivery
- Perform requested equipment inventories, including but not limited to chassis, containers, and flat racks, via handheld device
- Operate heavy equipment to transport them through the yard as needed for the vessel operations.
- Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards, and awareness of surrounding (i.e. vehicles, equipment, etc.) at all times
- Perform other related tasks as assigned
- Subject to physical and/or DOT Screening is required along with other tests as applicable
- The employee is frequently required to reach forward, exercise repetitive foot and wrist motion and finger dexterity
- The employee is frequently required to talk and hear
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, bend-forward, squat, twist, reach overhead and pinch
- The employee is occasionally required to sit (while driving), grasp, and exercise eye-hand coordination and eye-hand-foot coordination
- The employee is regularly required to use their fingers
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
