POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced Family Law Legal Assistant to join our Family Law practice group. In this role, you will support attorneys handling a wide range of domestic relations matters—including divorce, legal decision-making, parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, and post-decree proceedings. You will be a critical member of the team, ensuring cases move forward efficiently while providing compassionate, professional service to clients during some of the most challenging times of their lives.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Support attorneys across the full lifecycle of family law matters, including divorce, parenting time, legal decision-making, child support, spousal maintenance, and property division.
• Prepare, proof, format, and file legal documents with the courts, including pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
• Assist with discovery: organize, prepare, and track discovery requests, responses, and document productions.
• Prepare trial exhibits, subpoena packets, trial subpoenas for witnesses, and other trial preparation materials.
• Maintain and organize electronic case files in iManage with precision.
• Manage attorney calendars, court deadlines, docketing, and appointments—proactively flagging conflicts and upcoming deadlines.
• Serve as a professional point of contact for clients regarding case status and document requests.
• Handle client intakes and conflict checks in compliance with firm procedures.
• Coordinate service of process and schedule mediations, depositions, and expert appointments.
• Handle confidential financial records and sensitive personal information with the utmost discretion.
• Participate actively as part of a collaborative team, providing backup coverage for multiple attorneys as needed.
• Leverage AI tools and emerging legal technology to enhance efficiency and work product quality.
