As a Senior Buyer at our Auburn Hills, MI facility, you will lead the materials workcell team and serve as the primary customer interface for all materials‑related activities. You will develop and execute materials strategies, oversee planning and purchasing execution, and continuously improve performance metrics. Your leadership and decision‑making will directly impact customer satisfaction, production continuity, and operational efficiency.

What Will You Do?
- Direct and lead the materials workcell team to ensure material planning and production planning activities align with department and workcell objectives.
- Supervise materials team members, including responsibility for day‑to‑day activities, performance management, coaching, and development.
- Provide timely feedback to employees, complete annual performance evaluations, and develop training and development plans.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of workcell‑specific materials strategies and initiatives.
- Execute materials department and workcell strategies to support operational goals.
- Develop team understanding of performance metrics; monitor results and drive continuous improvement to meet or exceed objectives.
- Investigate root causes of material‑related line‑down situations and drive corrective actions.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of critical data within business and ERP systems.
- Act as the primary customer interface for all materials‑related issues, including demand management and quoting activities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Comply with company security policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- This position is directly responsible for managing other employees, including hiring, termination, performance management, and compensation‑related decisions.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 2–3 years of related materials, purchasing, or supply chain experience.
- MBA preferred but not required.
- APICS certification preferred but not required.
- Strong leadership and people‑management skills in a manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of materials planning, purchasing, and production support.
- Ability to develop and execute materials strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using performance metrics to drive improvement.
- Excellent communication skills for effective customer and cross‑functional interaction.
- Proven problem‑solving skills, particularly in resolving material shortages and line‑down issues.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools.
