Core Responsibilities
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance on robotic arms, conveyors, pick-and-place machines, and automated optical inspection (AOI) systems to prevent mechanical or electrical failure.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose root causes of equipment malfunctions involving PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), sensors, motors, pneumatic systems, and vision systems.
- System Calibration: Calibrate high-precision robotics and automated tooling to ensure accuracy in component placement and soldering within tight tolerances.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the engineering team to implement hardware and software upgrades that improve cycle times, yield, and machine reliability.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of repairs, part replacements, and equipment performance metrics. Assist in creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for machine operation.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all equipment meets OSHA and corporate safety standards, including the proper functioning of light curtains, E-stops, and interlocking safety gates.
- Robotics: Proficiency in maintaining and jogging 6-axis or SCARA robots (e.g., FANUC, Epson, or ABB).
- Control Systems: Basic understanding of PLC logic (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) and the ability to use HMI screens for diagnostics.
- Electronics: Strong knowledge of digital and analog circuitry, power supplies, and wiring schematics.
- Mechanical/Pneumatic: Experience with vacuum grippers, actuators, ball screws, and solenoid valves.
- Tooling: Ability to use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers) and diagnostic equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters).
- Education: Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering Technology, or a related technical field. Equivalent military training or 4 years of relevant experience is also highly valued.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably within the electronics or semiconductor industry.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, the capacity to work under pressure during line-down situations, and clear communication skills for technical reporting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Comfort working in an environment (if applicable), requiring specialized attire like ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) smocks and grounding straps.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts to support 24/7 production schedules.
