Position Overview
J2 is seeking a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to support structural evaluation and repair design for existing buildings.
This is not a production design role for new construction. The position focuses on forensic investigation, structural assessment, repair detailing, and technical report preparation. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, approving, and stamping structural calculations, drawings, and reports as required.
The role includes a balance of field investigation and office-based analysis.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct field investigations of structural and building envelope failures
- Perform structural assessments of existing wood, steel, and concrete systems
- Prepare structural calculations and repair details
- Review and stamp structural reports, drawings, and recommendations
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and clients
- Provide construction phase services, including site observation and review
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Washington (or ability to obtain through reciprocity)
- Experience evaluating and designing repairs for existing building structures
- Familiarity with wood, steel, and concrete framing systems
- Knowledge of applicable building codes and seismic considerations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to access roofs, crawlspaces, ladders, and active construction sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in building envelope consulting or forensic engineering
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, or similar)
- Experience supporting waterproofing or façade-related structural repairs
- Additional licensure in OR, UT, ID, or other western states
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $110,000 – $135,000 annually, depending on experience and licensure.
