What are the responsibilities and job description for the Semi-Truck and Trailer Mechanic position at J's Mobile Repair Service INC?
This is a full-time, on-site role, located in Detroit, MI for an experienced Diesel Mechanic who will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing diesel semi-truck and tractor engines, conducting routine maintenance and service checks, and ensuring that equipment is safe and in good working condition. We also focus on trailer repair and upkeep, including fabrication of damaged trailers. We are a small family shop and are seeking to expand our business and find the right person to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and fix mechanical issues using appropriate tools and troubleshooting techniques
- Occasionally travel to location of disabled equipment to repair or diagnose issues as needed
- Collaborate with other technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs while maintaining high-quality standards
- Identify and report additional maintenance needs during repairs to ensure proper upkeep and safety of equipment
- Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used for inventory management
- Maintain a safe and orderly work space to ensure safety standards are met
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License (CDL preferred but not required)
- 3 years experience in medium/heavy-duty truck repairs
- Strong knowledge of brakes, transmissions, engines, DPF exhaust systems, and other general repairs
- ASE Certification or willingness to get certified (free training available)
- Self-motivated, with excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks
- Ability to work well in a team environment

Pay: $25.00 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 50 per week
