Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Commercial Driver's License A Regional Truck Driver to join our team. This role involves operating both manual and automatic trucks to deliver frozen and refrigerated groceries to local stores. The driver will be responsible for ensuring timely deliveries within a regional route, adhering to all safety and DOT regulations, and maintaining the condition of the vehicle. The position offers flexibility in load volume, with most deliveries completed on the same day, and some loads requiring material handling or overnight stays in the truck.
Duties
- Operate commercial trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions to transport frozen and refrigerated goods.
- Pick up loads from dispatch calls and deliver to various local stores, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to maintain safety standards.
- Handle materials as required for certain loads, including loading or unloading when necessary.
- Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations during daily operations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and delivery records in accordance with company policies.
- Drive a minimum of 1200 miles per week, with opportunities for additional loads, including incentive opportunities for routes to Chicago and weekend deliveries.
- Occasionally sleep in the truck for overnight loads or extended routes as needed.
- Ensure proper handling of refrigerated cargo to maintain quality during transit.
Experience
- At least one year of over-the-road (OTR) driving experience required.
- Valid CDL A license with clean driving record.
- Experience operating both manual and automatic trucks is desirable.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures is essential.
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections and handle material loading/unloading when necessary.
