J. Rinehart Gallery is seeking a part-time Gallery Assistant for its Pioneer Square location.
ABOUT THE GALLERY
J. Rinehart Gallery opened in 2019 with the intention of creating a new type of gallery that is welcoming and open to all visitors to make experiencing the art world less intimidating, and to break down the perceived barriers of collecting art. We celebrate with our clients whether it is their first art purchase or if they are seasoned collectors and provide excellent service and transparency throughout the process. We work closely with our artists to plan and execute their exhibitions and maintain a high standard of quality in their work. We strive to create a fun and welcoming environment that is uplifting, professional and sophisticated.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The perfect applicant will be ready and eager to begin their career in the arts by learning the various aspects of running a commercial fine art gallery. They will be flexible, detail-oriented, resourceful at problem-solving, and have an aptitude for sales and marketing. Applicants with experience in marketing, content creation, and graphic design will be highly considered. Our ideal candidate will bring a genial customer-focused attitude to both clients and artists alike and be willing to get their hands dirty as they assist the gallery staff in everything from website and social media maintenance to packing artwork for buyers and hanging art for exhibitions. Please note this position is an in-person only position in Pioneer Square.
Essential Position Functions include but are not limited to:
1. Social Media/Email Marketing
Promote exhibitions and other gallery events through email and Instagram.
Photograph events and exhibition installations.
Gather artist info/news for monthly gallery newsletter
Create content for social media posts
Maintain Instagram/social media post schedule
Keep the gallery up to date on digital trends with an understanding of social media best practices
2. Office administration
File paperwork/invoices
Maintain client database & email mailing list
Maintain and organize digital files
Calendar Management
Greet Visitors
Answer phone calls
Assist in putting together presentations for clients
3. Artwork inventory management
Create database/inventory record for each work received in the gallery
Coordinate and receive delivery of artwork from artists prior to exhibitions
4. Work with the gallery staff to install exhibitions
Includes hanging artwork, climbing ladders for lighting, using a hammer, nails, screws, drills, etc.. spackle, and painting
5. Art Handling – some packing/shipping
Assist with installation in client homes
Coordinate deliveries/pickup of sold artwork
6. General Facility Maintenance
Help gallery staff in keeping facilities clean and ready to receive clients

Instagram
MacOS interface
This position is part-time, 20-25 hours per week, with a regular schedule Thursday - Saturday 10am-5pm with additional hours available for First Thursday and other opening receptions.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
