What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Mill Machinist position at J Peace Recruiting?
CNC MILL MACHINIST
We are hiring CNC Mill talent at all levels — from entry-level operators to advanced machinists and leads. Actual level will be determined based on experience, technical knowledge, and demonstrated skill.
What You’ll Do

Run CNC mills (3-axis to 5-axis depending on experience)

Perform setups (basic to full)
-
Mount and tram vises
-
Mount and indicate chucks on the milling table
-
Set up tools & touch off tools
-
Mount/indicate 4th axis & tailstock (for experienced machinists)
-
Prepare soft jaws (vise or chuck)
-
Cut parts to spec and complete inspection documents
-
Measure parts with micrometers, calipers, depth gauges
-
Read and interpret blueprints (basic GD&T required)

Communicate with Quality as needed
-
Load tools properly and understand tool handling
-
Maintain a clean machine & work area
-
Safely operate overhead crane (training provided)
What You Should Know

Fanuc control experience
-
Basic to advanced G & M codes (depending on level)

Adjusting offsets
-
Blueprint reading & GD&T fundamentals
-
Understanding thread callouts and basic pitch
-
Ability to measure parts accurately
-
Basic machine shop safety
Higher-Level Expectations (Based on Experience)

Full setups on 4-axis and 5-axis jobs

Editing, copying, and moving program processes
-
Solving machining issues on your own

Monitoring and improving processes
-
Understanding materials and threads
-
Improving cycle times and machining workflows

Training junior operators (Machinist/Lead level)
