What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Dispatcher position at J.P. Noonan Transportation?
J.P. Noonan Transportation, New England’s largest petroleum transportation company with ten facilities in five of six New England states, specializes in hauling gasoline, diesel, propane, liquid asphalt, heavy oil, sand, lime and cement throughout New England.
We are looking for a full-time, 2nd shift dispatcher to work in our West Springfield, MA location. You will serve as a communication point for our truck drivers. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator and must be able to multi-task as well as take appropriate action with little supervision.
Job Responsibilities:
- 2nd shift / 2 pm to 11 pm / Tuesday - Saturday
- Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions
- Receive and dispatch orders for products or deliveries
- Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance.
- Maintaining records of dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes, as well as delivery and pick-up times
- Review drivers’ logs, including dispatched calls and arrival times
- Monitoring truck repairs and maintenance schedules
- Keeping track of transportation regulations and laws to ensure that truck drivers comply
- Assist the billing personnel
Job Requirements:
- Experience as a Truck Dispatcher in a similar industry
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with Transportation Management Software is a plus
- Knowledge of applicable transportation regulations and laws
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
