What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Drafter position at J&M Pool Services LLC?
J&M Pool Company is a fast growing swimming pool company located on the southside of Atlanta. We specialize in high end custom solutions for our clients. We are a full service swimming pool company with over 50 employees and are looking to hire an experienced CAD Drafter.
An excellent CAD Drafter must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills.
Position Summary
The CAD Drafter's primary responsibility is to work in collaboration with the Pre-Construction Coordinator and the Design Team to create a successful transition of all projects from Design to Construction Plans.
- Build a full set of construction plans from a final design / final contract.
- Creation and validation of all site plans and related cut sheets for each subcontractor.
- Confirm elevations onsite and assist with providing reference point(s) onsite for subs and J&M for reference with utilizing plans for their respective trade.
- Educate on Pool related trades and work with subs to provide the highest quality plans available.
- Some onsite work will be necessary.
Essential Functions
- Ensure standards of safety and quality are adhered to by assertively championing J&M’s safety culture to project.
- Work collaboratively with project team members.
- Represent J&M in a professional manner when working with customers and J&M Staff Members.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop accurate, detailed 2D and 3D models using CAD software
- Create drawings, plans, schematics, and blueprints for construction
- Revise and adjust plans as needed based on feedback or changes in the project scope
- Ensure all changes are accurately reflected in updated plans
- Adhere to industry standards, building codes, and regulations relevant to the plans
- Make sure that plans comply with safety standards and environmental regulations
- Stay updated with the latest CAD tools and techniques
- Identify and resolve discrepancies or errors in plans before they are finalized
- Other related duties as assigned or needed
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Construction Management, or related field, or minimum 5 years of experience as a CAD Drafter or equivalent role.
- Candidates must have a solid understanding of the construction industry, job site safety requirements, contract management, building products, and relevant technology.
- This position requires a high level of fluency creating and reviewing plans, specifications, and related project documents.
- Key competencies are attention to detail, initiative, communication, and teamwork.
- Technical Skills: Buildertrend, AutoCad, Pool Studio, Sketchup, Google Applications, MS Office Suite.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The CAD Drafter is regularly required to:
- Walk, climb stairs, sit, and stand.
- Talk and hear at normal levels.
- See with close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and have the ability to adjust focus.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Use hands and fingers to operate tools and other business machines.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
