Duties
- Process payroll accurately using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, or similar platforms, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal regulations.
- Manage employee data entry, updates, and maintenance within HRIS and payroll systems while safeguarding confidential information.
- Reconcile payroll accounts regularly through general ledger accounting practices, ensuring accuracy in debits & credits and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with employment & labor law, payroll tax regulations, and government reporting requirements across jurisdictions.
- Handle benefits administration related to payroll deductions, retirement plans, health insurance contributions, and other employee benefits.
- Assist with tax law updates by applying current payroll tax regulations to ensure proper withholding and reporting.
- Support time & attendance systems like Kronos or equivalent tools for accurate tracking of hours worked and leave management.
- Collaborate with accounting teams on accounts payable/receivable processes related to payroll expenses and vendor payments.
- Generate detailed reports using spreadsheets and financial software for analysis of payroll data, labor costs, and financial concepts.
- Maintain meticulous records of all payroll transactions, audits, and compliance documentation for internal review or external audits.
Experience
- Proven experience in payroll management within a corporate accounting environment or non-profit setting.
- Hands-on proficiency with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian or similar platforms supported technically or administratively.
- Strong knowledge of employment & labor law as well as payroll tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, debits & credits.
- Experience working with HRIS systems like PeopleSoft or similar human resources management tools.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining accuracy through data entry and analysis skills.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel), financial software applications, and accounting software used for payroll processing.
- Knowledge of benefits administration processes including benefits deductions and retirement plan contributions.
- Ability to perform account reconciliation tasks accurately while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
