Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, and styling tailored to each dog’s breed and individual needs
- Handle dogs safely and confidently using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure their comfort and security during grooming procedures
- Assess each dog’s health condition, noting any abnormalities or concerns that may require veterinary attention or special care
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and in excellent condition
- Communicate effectively with pet owners about grooming preferences, special needs, and aftercare instructions
- Assist with pet handling during drop-off and pick-up times, providing friendly customer service that builds trust and loyalty
- Support additional animal care tasks such as pet sitting or kennel duties when needed to ensure a positive experience for all pets in our facility
Qualifications
- Proven experience in pet grooming, with a strong understanding of dog handling and animal restraint techniques
- Knowledge of veterinary procedures or veterinary technician experience is a plus for assessing health concerns during grooming
- Background in animal handling across various species including dogs and equines is desirable
- Familiarity with pet care practices such as pet sitting, pet grooming, and kennel management
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling large or heavy dogs or equipment
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners
- Prior experience in veterinary assistant roles or animal care positions enhances your ability to provide comprehensive care during grooming sessions
