Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and transfer devices
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to track patient health status accurately
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner
- Provide compassionate care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral health support
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols such as aseptic technique and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and safety
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy (blood draws), and basic life support when required
- Document patient observations and care activities thoroughly in medical records using EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Meditech
- Support patients in outpatient, inpatient, or home care settings across diverse specialties including geriatrics, pediatrics, ICU, emergency medicine, and behavioral health
Experience
- Prior experience working in medical-surgical units, ICU settings, or emergency departments is highly desirable
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Clinicals for accurate medical documentation
- Experience providing care in long-term care facilities like nursing homes or assisted living communities
- Knowledge of specialized care areas including dementia care, hospice services, infectious disease management, and trauma centers (Level I & II)
- Familiarity with pediatric and adult patient needs across inpatient and outpatient environments
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) or advanced certifications such as ACLS is preferred
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology principles necessary for effective patient service and caregiving roles
