Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Sales Associate role based in Lansing, MI. The Sales Associate provides personalized service to customers on the sales floor, helping them find styles, sizes, and outfits that fit their needs while reflecting the J.Jill brand. Daily responsibilities include greeting and engaging customers, sharing product knowledge, recommending coordinating pieces, and supporting fitting room experiences. The role also involves operating the point-of-sale system, processing transactions, handling returns and exchanges, and promoting loyalty programs or current promotions. Additional tasks include maintaining visual standards, replenishing merchandise, keeping the store clean and organized, and collaborating with team members and store leadership to meet sales and service goals.
Qualifications
- Customer service and retail sales skills, including the ability to build rapport, actively listen, and provide styling suggestions tailored to individual needs.
- Point-of-sale and cash handling skills, with accuracy in processing transactions, returns, and exchanges.
- Merchandising and store operations skills, such as maintaining visual standards, restocking, organizing inventory, and keeping the sales floor and fitting rooms tidy.
- Communication and teamwork skills, including clear verbal communication, a professional and courteous approach, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Time management and multitasking skills, with the ability to balance customer interactions, operational duties, and priorities during peak periods.
- Previous retail or customer-facing experience is preferred but not required; interest in apparel and styling is highly beneficial.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, move around the sales floor, and occasionally lift or carry merchandise in accordance with store guidelines.
