Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medications accurately while adhering to all legal, regulatory, and safety standards.
- Provide expert consultation to healthcare professionals and patients regarding medication therapy, interactions, and side effects.
- Conduct patient assessments to determine appropriate medication plans, including reviewing medical histories and current treatments.
- Manage pharmacy inventory efficiently, including ordering supplies, stock control, and compounding medications when necessary.
- Utilize pharmacy software and electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient interactions, prescriptions, and medical management activities.
- Administer immunizations and perform medication administration procedures following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with medical teams on pain management, critical care cases, pediatrics, and acute care scenarios to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
- Support pharmacy technician staff by overseeing workflow, ensuring accuracy in medication dispensing, and providing mentorship as needed.
- Participate in continuous professional development activities related to LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy, hospital experience, or specialized clinical areas such as physiology or anatomy knowledge.
Skills
- Extensive experience in Retail pharmacy with a strong understanding of clinical pharmacy practices.
- Critical care experience with a focus on acute patient management and medical management strategies.
- Proven ability in patient service roles involving patient assessment and personalized care planning.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records).
- Experience with immunizations administration and IV insertion techniques within hospital or clinical settings.
- Strong inventory management skills to ensure medication availability while minimizing waste.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient privacy during all operations.
