The Processing Associate is responsible for supporting daily operations in the processing room by ensuring products are handled, packed, and stored according to company standards. This role involves maintaining quality, accuracy, and cleanliness throughout all assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
The Processing Room Associate key responsibilities include:
- Transport whole fish to different stations in the processing room as needed throughout the shift.
- Apply ice to product as required to maintain freshness and quality.
- Weigh and scale fish to meet required weight standards.
- Assist Processing Team Members as needed to accurately fulfill orders.
- Pack seafood products according to customer specifications, requirements, and deadlines.
- Inspect fish, boxes, and materials to ensure quality and compliance with company standards.
- Stack finished boxes onto pallets in an organized and safe manner.
- Learn to identify different species being processed to avoid mispacks.
- Report any product or quality concerns immediately to the supervisor or team leads.
- Assist with general labor tasks to support the processing team and meet production goals.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all assigned areas of the processing room.
- Follow all company safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
- Be flexible and open to cross-training in different areas as needed.
- Follow directives and perform efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Reviews and understands all SOP’s (Standard Operation Procedures).
- Complete all training as required.
- Handle other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
- If assisting with computer operations:
- Enter and maintain order data accurately in SeaSoft.
- Weigh products in Packer Tracker to ensure all orders are fully packed to specifications.
- Verify and support daily orders for Wegmans and will call, assisting team leads as needed.
- Ensure all labels and order documentation are correctly printed and distributed to cutting stations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas in compliance with food safety standards.
- Communicating with processing staff and leads to resolve discrepancies or issues with orders.
- Provide general support to the processing team to ensure smooth daily operations.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Previous experience in food processing, warehouse or similar environment is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work in a cold and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Able to transfer attention from one task to another frequently without affecting performance.
- Must have strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible schedules as required.
- Must be able to read and write in English.
- Able to speak Spanish a plus but not required.
- Ability to work on own with minimal supervision.
- Must have a positive attitude.
