Work Location: JH Knox Intermediate, Salisbury, NC
FLSA Status: Exempt 10-month employee
Position Purpose
The Enhancement Teacher (Art, Music, PE, STEM, World Language, etc.) designs engaging, creative, and rigorous learning experiences that help students explore their passions, develop new skills, and connect learning to life beyond school.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & Learning Design
- Develop standards-aligned lessons and units that build creativity, collaboration, and confidence.
- Engage students in hands-on, experiential learning that connects to real-world contexts and personal interests.
- Integrate literacy, communication, and reflection into enhancement content areas.
- Differentiate instruction to ensure access and challenge for all learners.
Culture & Community
- Foster inclusive, positive classroom environments where every student feels seen and valued.
- Model wellness, teamwork, and perseverance through the enhancement discipline.
- Participate in Student Strong Start routines and contribute to the school’s daily culture of belonging.
Collaboration & Integration
- Partner with core teachers and coaches to co-design interdisciplinary projects.
- Collaborate with the CCL Team to connect enhancement content to career pathways and community engagement.
- Share student learning through exhibitions, showcases, and performances.
Professional & Family Partnership
- Communicate regularly with families to celebrate student strengths and participation.
- Engage in professional learning and Adult Strong Start to support the school’s mission and priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Teaching License in relevant enhancement area.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related content field.
- Demonstrated success engaging diverse learners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or advanced study in relevant content or arts education.
- Experience with project-based or experiential learning.
- Training in SEL, wellness, or creative instructional design.
Professional Expectations
- Model creativity, curiosity, and reflection in all aspects of teaching.
- Participate actively in Adult Strong Start and the broader learning community.
- Collaborate across disciplines to connect enhancement learning to the school’s 4E and CCL frameworks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Leader or Campus Leader.
Salary : $41,000 - $59,950
