Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair and maintenance, with experience in working on various heavy equipment and vehicles. This role requires a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and excellent customer service. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all equipment is operating efficiently.
Duties
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, including Caterpillar engines and other heavy machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including tractor-trailers, excavators, and cranes.
- Conduct automotive diagnostics to identify mechanical issues using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Repair or replace components such as transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, shocks & struts, and HVAC systems.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools for repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Fabricate parts as needed to ensure proper functionality of machinery.
- Perform tire service and brake repair on various vehicles.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their vehicle needs.
Skills
- Proven experience as a mechanic with a focus on diesel engines and heavy equipment operation.
- Familiarity with automotive repair techniques and vehicle maintenance protocols.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Experience with fabrication, welding, assembly, and soldering is preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other heavy machinery safely.
- Knowledge of electrical systems related to diesel engines is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for effective customer interactions.
