Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are maintained to the highest standards of safety and performance.
Duties
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, including Caterpillar and other heavy machinery.
- Conduct routine maintenance on various types of vehicles, including tractor-trailers, farm machinery, and industrial equipment.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspensions, transmissions, and HVAC systems.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication tasks.
- Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot electrical issues in vehicles.
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators and cranes as needed for repairs.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding vehicle status and repair needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist with tire service, brake repair, shocks & struts replacement, alignment, and assembly tasks.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role with a strong mechanical knowledge base.
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and repair techniques for diesel engines.
- Experience working with heavy equipment operation is preferred.
- Dealership experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to lift heavy objects as required during maintenance tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills for effective customer interaction.
- Knowledge of electrical systems is advantageous; soldering skills are a plus.
