Dealer Trade Driver (On-Call)

Position Overview:
J.C. Lewis Ford Hinesville is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Dealer Trade Driver to assist with the transportation of vehicles between our dealership and other automotive dealerships. This on-call position offers flexibility, as work is scheduled on an as-needed basis.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, safe driving habits, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
What You'll Do:
Safely transport vehicles between dealerships for trades, purchases, or exchanges.
Conduct detailed inspections of vehicles before and after transport, documenting and reporting any damage or discrepancies.
Accurately complete required paperwork, including condition reports, mileage logs, and trade documentation.
Coordinate transportation schedules with dealership staff to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
Provide professional, courteous service during all interactions with dealership staff and customers.
Ensure vehicles assigned for transport are properly maintained and report any maintenance needs.
Follow all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
Maintain clear and timely communication with dealership management and dispatch regarding transportation status.
Who We're Looking For:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Minimum 19 years of age.
Prior experience in a driving or vehicle transport role preferred.
Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices.
Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for long periods while driving.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects as needed.
Ability to bend, stoop, and reach.
Good vision and hearing for safe driving.
Work Environment:
Occasional long-distance travel and overnight stays may be required.
Company vehicle provided for all transportation needs.
Uniform or adherence to dress code may be required.
Compensation:
$.30 per mile driven, or a $50 minimum per trip (whichever is greater).
$10 per canceled trade (if driver has arrived at the dealership before cancellation).
$20 for each external transfer vehicle inspection (with documented inspection).
$10 per hour for wait time after the first hour.
Approved Reimbursements:
Up to $130 per night for authorized overnight stays (required for round trips exceeding 10 hours).
$25 per meal during authorized overnight stays.
Tolls and any out-of-pocket fuel expenses.
