What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Diesel Mechanic position at J.B. Hunt?
This position is responsible for performing intermediate service and repair of our tractors, trailers, chassis, containers, and power equipment on-site at customer sites or rail yard using a mobile service truck.
The hourly pay range for this role is between $29.18-$33.16 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance and intermediate repairs (tires, brakes, electrical, structural), including chassis and frame repairs, patching trailer and container panels and roofs
- Inspect equipment and document damage for repair estimates and complete associated work orders with proper repair documentation
- Perform AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections
- Diagnose and repair ABS systems
- Operate and maintain mobile service truck and inventory

Qualifications:
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old
- At least 2 years of hands-on mechanic experience servicing semi-trucks and/or trailers or military equivalent
- Clean motor vehicle record
- Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through J.B. Hunt purchasing program
Preferred Qualifications:
- DOT certifications in FHWA inspections and air brakes
- Welding certification
- Forklift certification and experience
- EPA Section 608 certification and refrigeration license

Compensation:
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
