Position Overview
Izakaya Ko is seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient back-of-house environment.
This position is essential to the daily operation of our kitchen. The Kitchen Porter will be responsible for dishwashing, cleaning and sanitation, trash removal, kitchen organization, and supporting the culinary team throughout opening, service, and closing.
Responsibilities
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen and back-of-house areas
- Clean and maintain kitchen floors, dish stations, work areas, storage areas, and trash areas
- Remove trash and recycling throughout service and at closing
- Restock cleaning supplies and other kitchen essentials as needed
- Assist with general kitchen cleaning and light prep-related tasks when needed
- Complete opening, service, and closing cleaning duties
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout each shift
- Communicate effectively with chefs, kitchen staff, and management
- Assist the team with additional back-of-house duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen, porter, dishwasher, or restaurant experience is preferred, but not required
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Strong work ethic and attention to cleanliness
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Comfortable performing physically demanding cleaning and kitchen tasks
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
