Staff Accountant
Position Summary
iXCells Biotechnologies is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance team. The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records while maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies. This position is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement support, month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced biotechnology environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process and maintain Accounts Payable (AP), including invoice coding, approvals, vendor setup, payment processing, and account reconciliations.
- Manage Accounts Receivable (AR), including customer invoicing, cash application, collections, and account reconciliations.
- Support procurement activities by reviewing purchase requisitions, purchase orders, vendor documentation, and ensuring compliance with company purchasing policies.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
- Perform monthly balance sheet, bank, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and management reports.
- Assist with inventory, fixed asset, and cost accounting activities.
- Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or opportunities for process improvements.
- Assist with annual financial audits and prepare supporting schedules and documentation.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, and GAAP.
- Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and Scientific teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support special projects and perform other accounting duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a more senior accounting role.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Procurement/Purchasing
- Month-end close
- Financial reporting
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working with an ERP/accounting system.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or related industry.
- Experience using Bill.com for AP automation and payment processing.
- Experience with cost accounting, including inventory valuation, manufacturing costs, and product costing.
- Experience supporting Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
- Experience supporting annual financial audits.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

- Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends or discrepancies.
- High degree of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
- Strong customer service skills when interacting with employees, vendors, and customers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-paced, growth-oriented biotechnology environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically.
Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based within a biotechnology company. The employee will regularly interact with accounting, operations, purchasing, and laboratory personnel in a collaborative and professional environment.
