Position Summary:
Walchem is hiring a AWS Cloud Support Engineer for the Walchem Fluent™ software platform to oversee, maintain, and improve the front-end web experience for industrial water treatment customers. Responsibilities include managing the Fluent web application’s administration and front-end operations to ensure reliability, usability, and performance. This position offers opportunities to learn new technologies and contribute to product innovation within a dynamic R&D team.
Key Responsibilities & Required Functions:
- Conduct code reviews of Fluent Git/Bitbucket changes
- Deploy and maintain application code updates across EC2 instances
- Creating new EC2 instances, database instances, security group rules, etc.
- Updating CloudWatch dashboard on new releases
- Remediate vulnerabilities identified by AWS security tools including Security Hub, Inspector, and GuardDuty
- Keeping Linux up-to-date on EC2 instances
- Develop and maintain a CVE management strategy, including triage, prioritization, and remediation tracking
- Establish and document criteria and processes for evaluating and upgrading Java and JavaScript library dependencies
- Manage Continuous Integration pipelines (Jenkins builds)
- Triage and resolve customer-reported issues, escalating when appropriate
- Monitor AWS service updates and assess their impact on the Fluent platform
- Support regression testing and validation of changes prior to release
- Maintain version control, release notes, and technical documentation using Subversion and Git
- QA validation of updates before deployment
- Support deployment coordination with Marketing
- This position requires full-time, on-site work at our Holliston, MA office.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with AWS-hosted or cloud-native applications.
- Proven experience supporting web-based software applications, not just static websites.
- Experience supporting dashboards, data visualization tools, or industrial monitoring user interfaces.
- Exposure to release management processes and version control systems, such as Subversion and Git.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles for customer-facing applications.
- Experience working with industrial automation, instrumentation, or monitoring systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Highly motivated, resourceful, and creative problem solver.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with competing priorities, changing business needs, and ambiguity while maintaining compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer certification.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web development technologies.
- Experience with front-end frameworks and libraries, such as jQuery or Angular.
- Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux.
- Familiarity with continuous integration pipelines.
- Ability to work directly with external customers.
- Familiarity with MySQL.
