What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kentucky Medical Tech (KMA) - PRN 6P to 6A position at Ivy Knoll Senior Community?
Ivy Knoll, a senior living community located in Covington, KY, is seeking a Kentucky Medical Tech (KMA) for PRN on our night shift (6P to 6A).
The KMA provides aide to residents, ensuring that quality of life is at the highest standard, as well as providing medication administration to residents as ordered by the attending physician within the scope of practice of the facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees medication administration for residents on night shift (6p - 6a)
- Receives report from off-going shift and documents receipt of medication cart keys from off-going shift
- Counts narcotics with off-going shift; reports any discrepancies to the Director of Nursing or the Executive Director
- Maintains medication cart in a clean and orderly condition
- Documents medication and treatment administration per facility policy
- Delivers care as described on each resident's care plan and as directed per training standards. Discusses changes in acuity with supervisors and the Director of Nursing to change plan when needed.
- Maintains resident rooms in a tidy, orderly condition with respect to residents' rights and preferences.
- Supplies fresh ice, water and other refreshments as assigned.
- Completes all tasks as directed on the unit's assignment sheet for the assigned shift.
- Reports any unusual occurrences, signs, symptoms, complaints or observations of the residents to the supervisor or Director of Nursing.
- Documents as required per facility policy including, but not limited to: Resident's care delivery on the care plans; Resident's Care Plan Intervention Sheets; Resident's Shower Days and Skin Assessment; Resident's temperature (as appropriate); and Resident's weight (as assigned).
- Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect or misappropriation of resident property per facility policy.
- Follows all policies and procedures of the facility
- Other duties as assigned
- Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- KMA certification
- STNA or CNA a plus
- 1 year personal care experience
- Ability to complete Ivy Knoll training on Med Cart procedures even with prior training at other facilities
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Effective time management
- Excellent customer service skills
