The Packaging Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of packaging equipment and the shipment of finished oat products. This role helps ensure production targets are met while maintaining product quality and compliance with all applicable food safety, occupational health and safety, and environmental regulations.

- Operate packaging lines in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor and control process parameters, including equipment performance, material flow, and product quality.
- Ensure accurate and efficient warehousing, receiving, storage, and shipment of finished products.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing trailers in accordance with company quality policies.
- Adjust equipment settings as needed to maintain product specifications, optimize efficiency, and support production goals.
- Complete production records and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance of packaging equipment.
- Identify operational or mechanical issues and promptly communicate concerns to the Director of Operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment throughout the facility.
- Perform housekeeping duties, including sweeping, vacuuming, equipment cleaning, waste removal, and debris control.
- Follow all food safety, quality, HACCP, and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Comply with all occupational health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and operational records.
- Collaborate effectively with Maintenance, Quality, Milling, and Operations teams.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in grain milling, food manufacturing, or industrial operations preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to operate mobile equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform elevated work from platforms, ladders, and scaffolding as required.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in all production areas of the facility.
- This position requires extended periods of walking, standing, and moving throughout the facility.
- Occasional extended hours, weekends, and/or on-call availability may be required to support plant operations and workforce needs.
- Employees must be clean-shaven when performing tasks that require respiratory protection.
