Job Title: After-School Assistant Director

Compensation: $22/hr

Base Hours and Days: Monday through Thursday 3:00 - 5:30 PM; Fridays (early release) 1:00 - 5:30 PM

On-Site Program Dates: August 2026 - July 31, 2027

Location: South Jordan, UT 84095

SUMMARY: Confidently teach and help lead our team of instructors to build a safe, happy, and stimulating learning environment for students ages 5-14. Duties include instructing as needed; overseeing the coordination of education programs that comply with local and federal regulations; ensuring that facilities are maintained; managing and supporting all staff; communicating proactively with parents; assisting with possible incidents; and helping manage the online registration system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the director in managing and coordinating curricula, activities, and games with staff
  • Instruct students and support teaching staff as needed
  • Help oversee the digital system and billing that run the after-school program
  • Communicate proactively with parents about student performance, learning, and any possible incidents
  • Ensure the center’s facilities are safe for children and comply with laws and regulations
  • Help evaluate and create lists of materials, equipment, and supplies that need to be purchased
  • Help manage staff schedule with varying availabilities

EDUCATION & RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with children required.
  • Experience working in a leadership position required.

AND must have one of the following:

  • An associates, bachelors, or graduate degree from an accredited college/university or successful completion of at least 12 semester credit hours of college/university level coursework in child development, early childhood education, elementary education, or a related field; or
  • A currently valid national certification such as a Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) issued by the National Child Care Association, a Child Development Associate (CDA) issued by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition; or
  • A currently valid Child Care Licensing-approved National Administrator Credential (NAC) plus at least 60 hours of approved Utah Early Childhood Career Ladder courses in child development or 60 hours of equivalent training as approved by the Department.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Possesses current CPR/First-Aid/AED Adult/Pediatric certification OR willing to acquire certification within 14 days of hire (in-person CPR component required).
  • Must complete all state-required training before starting position, a manager will support you in determining the completion date for each training in accordance with guidelines.
  • Background check required for hire.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Monthly (tasks that can be completed once a month as needed): support the director in creating a staffing schedule based on availabilities and communicate with staff members; help create an after school activity plan using provided resources that upholds expectations; create a list of needed materials for activities that fits within the approved budget and communicate to the appropriate persons for ordering; confirm staff hours and report to HR to run payroll
  • Weekly (tasks that can be completed once a week as needed): attend weekly meeting with supervisor and other directors; sanitize toys and materials; maintain inventory of materials and snacks; confirm staffing attendance; help create weekly activity summary that explains activities and needed supplies (can be done monthly);
  • Daily (tasks that can be completed once a day): support the director in responding to emails/Arux messages from parents; monitor sign-in/sign-out of students on Arux; ensure staff are appropriately clocking-in and out; engage with students and parents; enforce staff expectations; instruct activities and assist staff with activities as needed; handle student behavior concerns; set up activities.
