Agile Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Location: Washington, DC (On-site, 5 days per week)
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship Required
Clearance: Must be able to pass a Federal background check.

We are seeking a highly skilled Agile Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide planning, advisory, and support services across multiple business lines. The Agile SME will assist organizations in transitioning to or maturing their Agile or SAFe Agile practices, ensuring high-quality results and a high level of customer satisfaction. This role requires close collaboration with executives, senior architects, IT infrastructure leaders, and Agile teams to implement best practices, coach leadership, and drive organizational Agile transformation.

Responsibilities

• Provide Agile/SAFe expertise to establish, adapt, and mature practices and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps).
• Ensure technical environments and team capabilities support Agile delivery.
• Partner with senior management to plan organizational structures that enable Agile maturity.
• Collaborate with senior architects to transition enterprise architecture into Agile delivery models.
• Mentor testing leaders and teams on Agile testing and DevSecOps approaches.
• Work with IT infrastructure leaders to operationalize Agile approaches to enterprise infrastructure.
• Facilitate meetings, reviews, and Agile ceremonies to ensure continuous improvement across leaders, teams, and organizations.
• Provide guidance to Agile Coaches to ensure Agile practices are followed and adjusted as necessary.
• Conduct Agile and SAFe Agile training, certification preparation, and exam prep for federal staff.

Qualifications

• Experience: At least 7 years in project management and Agile implementation, with hands-on expertise in Scrum, Kanban, DevSecOps, and SAFe frameworks. Experience leading Agile transformation efforts at the organizational level.
• Proven ability to work with senior leaders in mid-size to large organizations across development, testing, project management, product development, and portfolio management.
• Strong background in systems thinking, planning, and enterprise-level Agile strategy.
• Demonstrated excellence in analytical, written, and oral communication skills.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree OR ten (10) years of equivalent work experience.

Certifications (Required or Equivalent)

• Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
• SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE)
• SAFe 6 Practice Consultant (SPC)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $145,000.00 - $170,000.00 per hour
