What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Medical Assistant position at IVI America?
IVIRMA North America network of state-of-the-art fertility practices in the United States, is currently seeking a Temporary Medical Assistant to join our growing Lafayette practice! This is a full-time temporary position Monday-Friday 7am-4pm.
Essential Functions and Accountabilities:
- Prepare exam and procedure rooms
- Support patients during clinical visits and procedures
- Perform specimen collection and processing
- Assist Physicians with patient care and clinical procedures
- Maintain supplies and ensure rooms and equipment are clean and fully stocked
- Practice phlebotomy
- Maintain clinical supplies inventory.
- Specimen collection, processing for in-house and outside laboratories.
- Provide patients with information regarding upcoming procedures and reassurance/comfort before, during and after procedures.
Academic Training:
- Completion of Certified Medical Assistant Program – preferred
- Studies level: Certification
- Studies area: Nursing/healthcare assistant
- Phlebotomy Program – preferred
- Studies level: Certification
- Studies area: Phlebotomy Program
Requirements:
- 6 months experience as a Medical Assistant in physician practice
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel
Preferred Experience:
- 1 year Phlebotomy experience or willingness to learn preferred
- Prior experience in Fertility, OBGYN, or Women’s healthcare – preferred
- Experience supporting clinical procedures is a plus
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience - preferred
