Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Jobsite Safety Manager to oversee the safety and compliance of construction projects at Port Canaveral, Florida. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all personnel on-site, maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and promoting a safety-first culture. The Jobsite Safety Manager will work closely with project managers, superintendents, and field workers to identify potential hazards, implement safety protocols, and conduct training to ensure a secure and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Oversight: Monitor daily activities on the job site to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with OSHA, local, and state safety regulations.
- Safety Training & Education: Conduct safety orientation for all new hires and provide ongoing safety training and toolbox talks to the workforce. Ensure all workers are equipped with the knowledge and tools to work safely.
- Incident Reporting & Investigation: Lead the investigation of accidents, near-misses, and injuries, ensuring thorough documentation and root cause analysis. Prepare and submit incident reports to the appropriate authorities.
- Safety Audits & Inspections: Perform regular safety audits and inspections of construction sites, equipment, and tools to ensure compliance with safety standards. Make recommendations for improvements and track corrective actions.
- Develop & Implement Safety Plans: Create and maintain comprehensive jobsite safety plans, including emergency response plans, hazard analysis, and safety protocols. Update plans as necessary based on changes in work scope or regulations.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure safety policies and practices are adhered to across the job site. Communicate safety concerns and updates to the team regularly.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management: Ensure proper use and availability of PPE, including helmets, gloves, safety goggles, and other required gear. Conduct regular checks to confirm compliance.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with OSHA standards, local and state regulations, and industry best practices. Ensure that all safety procedures and documentation comply with current laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction safety management, with a focus on large-scale construction projects.
- Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (required), CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred), and additional safety certifications (e.g., CHST, CSP) are a plus.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety protocols.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to conduct training and safety meetings effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to act decisively in emergency situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to walk job sites, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in varying weather conditions.
